Due to their wide range of uses in fire classes A, B and C, powder extinguishers are the all-round extinguishers among fire extinguishing devices.
The sudden extinguishing effect of ABC powder is based on two extinguishing effects:
On the one hand, extinguishing powder has an anti-catalytic extinguishing effect. As a result, the oxygen radicals in the air required for combustion are bound by powder and the fire extinguisher goes out. In addition, the extinguishing powder melts on the hot material to be burned and forms a so-called sinter layer. The oxygen supply is hindered and the fire is additionally smothered.
